SPRING CANYON COMMUNITY PARK

Size: 123 ACRES
Completion: APRIL 2007
Delivery: HARD BID
This was a 123-acre park including 3 restroom buildings, a maintenance building, picnic shelters, ball fields and dugouts, walking paths, playground equipment, basketball and tennis courts, a dog park and open turf area.
Some of our sustainable construction efforts included the following:
- Sustainable Site: Storm water retention for irrigation, enhanced open space for surrounding developed areas, preservation of existing natural wetland and grassland habitat, previous paving used for overflow parking areas
- Water Efficiency: Native planting reduced irrigation needs, storm water/irrigation runoff retention reduced irrigation needs, low-flow fixtures in maintenance buildings
- Energy Efficiency: Motion sensor lights and fans in restroom buildings, purchase of renewable wind energy, natural lighting reduced fixture quantity/loads
- Materials & Resources: Reuse of tree demo to enhance natural habitat areas, purchase of energy from regional wind turbine power plants
- Indoor Environmental Quality: Clearstory windows increase natural lighting in structures
