The Outreach Program is designed to connect GTC with our community, and connect our community with GTC. We do this through Education, Championship, and Philanthropy.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates that over 800,000 new personnel will be needed to fill spots in the construction industry nationwide, through 2028. Fifty thousand will be needed in Colorado alone, according to AGC Colorado’s estimates. The leadership at GTC could see that a bigger effort was needed and at the current pace, there were not going to be enough people to help fill those spots. We have decided to step in and do our part.

We created a specific program and a new position aimed at focusing on outreach throughout the industry and working on getting the next generation into construction. In the first six months of its existence, the program has reached over 450 industry professionals and potential industry professionals at different venues across Colorado. We have managed to partner with local schools, where we have both presented and facilitated presentations.

So far, we have presented and/or done panels at Greeley West High School, Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins, Jeffco’s Arvada High School and Green Mountain High School, and Adams 12 Five Star Schools’ Bollman Tech and Mountain Range High School. Some of the presentations include bringing along a few of GTC Superintendents, who provide interactive training’s with essential industry equipment. Part of what we discuss in these sessions is to explain to students how the different career paths can work in construction, both for those who choose not to go to college, and for those who do.

As part of our outreach program, we’ve participated in local charity events, like Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics, Race for the Cure and the Big Dig just to name a few.
